How to Feed a 100-Person Office Lunch Without Losing Your Mind

September 15, 2026 · The Kitchen

Headcount, dietary splits, serving format, drop window — the five decisions that separate a smooth hundred-person lunch from a scramble.

Feeding a hundred coworkers sounds like a lot. It isn't, if you make five decisions up front and stop second-guessing them.

1. Lock the headcount early

The single biggest mistake is ordering for "about a hundred." Order for a real number, then add 5% as a buffer. A hundred-person order sized for ninety-five leaves people staring at empty pans; sized for a hundred-and-five leaves tidy leftovers and a calm kitchen.

2. Pick the format before the menu

For a hundred people, drop-off buffet is usually the right call. Boxed meals at that scale get expensive and slow — a hundred individually wrapped boxes means a hundred little decisions. A buffet lets people serve themselves in fifteen minutes. If it's a client-facing event, spring for staffed buffet and let us run the line.

3. Run the dietary math

At a hundred people, assume:

  • 8–12 vegetarian
  • 4–6 vegan
  • 5–8 gluten-free
  • 2–4 halal or kosher-style

We label every dish, but you want at least one solid entrée per restriction — not just sides. Tell us the splits when you order and we build the menu around them at no upcharge.

4. Set a real drop window

"Sometime around noon" is how food sits. Give us a 30-minute window. Hot food is safe for two hours after delivery; a tight window means your team eats hot, not lukewarm.

5. Pick one cuisine, not five

A hundred people is not the moment to showcase the whole city. One cuisine, done well, with a vegetarian path and a protein variation, beats a sampler of everything. Save the multi-cuisine tasting for smaller, plated events.

Build the order with those five locked and a hundred-person lunch runs itself. We'll handle the rest — call 773-312-3463 or build your order online.
